Granite coves, a long stretch of sand or a beach beside a village: Paros offers very different ways to spend a day by the sea. Kolymbithres, Golden Beach and Aliki make a useful shortlist because each answers a different holiday preference.
These are three considered choices, rather than a ranking of every beach on the island. Start with the landscape you want, then match it to your accommodation and transport. This is a trip-planning guide; summer facilities and activities should not be assumed to operate throughout the year.
Kolymbithres: choose the granite coves
Facing Naoussa Bay, Kolymbithres has granite formations dividing the shore into successive sandy pockets. Its appeal is the changing outline of rock and water, rather than one uninterrupted beach.
Choose it when the setting is a priority and you would like to include Naoussa in the same day's plans. If a broad, continuous stretch of sand matters more, consider Golden Beach first. Plan access for your travel dates, including any boat service you might be considering from Naoussa.
Golden Beach: make room for sand and water sports
On the eastern side of Paros, Golden Beach, or Chrysi Akti, is our pick of the three for an extensive sandy shore and an interest in water sports. It is distinct from New Golden Beach, also called Tserdakia. Check the full place name when arranging a bus stop or meeting point.
One specific option is sea-kayak equipment rental at Golden Beach, with single and double choices for one hour. This rental has a minimum participation age of 10 and a May–October season. It is not described as a guided coastal trip. Recheck operating dates and availability for your next visit. Our Paros kayaking guide explains the booking distinction.
Aliki: keep the beach and village together
In southern Paros, Aliki brings the beach into the same setting as a small harbour, boats, cafés and tavernas. It suits a day organised around the village as well as time beside the water.
We would choose it for a swim, a stroll and a meal in one area. That combination may also appeal to a family group; it does not guarantee particular swimming conditions or facilities on your day. If village life is a bigger part of your plans than water sports, Aliki is a good starting point for your shortlist.
Match the beach to your base and your return journey
These beaches are on different sides of the island. For a single day, our recommendation is to choose one main stop and leave time to enjoy it, rather than collect all three. Consider Kolymbithres first from a Naoussa base, Golden Beach from the east and Aliki from the south. This is a geographical planning suggestion, not a promise about journey times.
Without a car, use the current Paros KTEL bus schedules for the right period and check the return as carefully as the outward trip. A beach appearing on a map does not establish a direct bus from your accommodation. If you are staying in Parikia and prefer less travel, compare Livadia near the port before committing to another side of the island.
When deciding on the day, local wind, waves and instructions matter more than a beach's reputation for being sheltered. Keep another option in mind, and treat loungers, equipment rental and other seasonal services as separate arrangements to confirm. The best choice for your trip is the one that fits both the kind of day you want and the journey you can realistically make.
